My foot was already on the brake and I was at least 5 feet away from the barrier at the end of the parking spot.   In addition to this experience, the emergency braking alarms tend to go off in unexpected/unneeded situations, such as when I'm coasting to a red light with my foot already on the brake.  And it does NOT go off in other situations where I would expect it, such as when a car stops short in front of me.  These situations happen approximately once every two months or so.
