When the recall repair was completed on 8/27/25, the dealership refused to refund the diagnostic fee, saying reimbursement had to come from Subaru of America. Subaru of America then stated that diagnostic fees are determined by the retailer and would not be reimbursed.  This left the consumer with an out-of-pocket charge directly tied to an open safety recall affecting the airbag system.
