The impact was significant enough to cause a fractured sternum due to the seat belt restraint. However, the front airbags did not deploy. I had a passenger in the vehicle, and we were both wearing our seatbelts at the time of the crash.  I am concerned that the airbags failed to deploy despite the severity of the impact and the resulting injury. I believe this may indicate a defect in the airbag system or the airbag control unit (ACU). I am submitting this report to ensure the issue is investigated and to help prevent potential harm to other drivers.  After the collision the car was not drivable due to an airbag error message on the dash of the vehicle. It had to be towed away from the scene and will not be repaired.
