There is water corrosion, which can cause the brake to activate unexpectedly.  I did not have any spills in the cargo area of my vehicle.  I believe it is from water coming into the wheel well.  I took the car to the dealership and they claimed it would cost me $5000 to replace not only the Parking Brake module, but the whole connection to the body harness. I currently do not have a parking brake.
