This is NOT because someone is in front of us on the highway.  It does it when no one is in front of us.  Sometimes there are cars behind us and this type of severe breaking is very dangerous when traveling at 70 mph.  Cars behind us have had to slam on their breaks to avoid rear-ending us.  I have taken the vehicle to Morgantown Mercedes Benz twice complaining about this issue.
