Heard pinging / knocking sounds while driving 3 miles from my home to the dealer.  Engine shut off without warning, vehicle shifted to Neutral.  Coasted to a stop, attempted to restart the engine, would only crank.  Dealer diagnosis is that the engine will need to be replaced.  Sounds just like the 2021 - 2024 GM recall for this same engine.  Vehicle has 11,670 miles on it.    Safety risk:  Loss of ALL power while driving.
