I spoke to Hyundai\u2019s customer service representative yesterday (3/18/26) about this recall that\u2019s now over a month old, and asked if I could get reimbursed for my out of pocket costs to remove the hitch\u2019s wiring at a Hyundai dealership.  The rep said Hyundai won\u2019t pay for my out of pocket cost to remove the harness wiring because they don\u2019t have an official \u201cremedy\u201d yet.  My local Hyundai dealership said the cost to unplug/remove the wiring would be about $200, which in my opinion would solve the problem and certainly is a \u201cremedy\u201d.  Hyundai refuses to reimburse me this cost even though they have a Hyundai recall reimbursement program for out of pocket expenses due to recall issues. My complaint: 1 - Hyundai has failed to provide a no cost recall remedy within a reasonable period of time. 2 - if I choose to pay for removal of the wiring, my out of pocket cost of $200 will not be reimbursed by Hyundai. 3 - Hyundai\u2019s recall says I could continue to drive my 2024 Hyundai Tucson, but apparently if the car gets wet, the wiring could ignite and cause a fire, which I\u2019m not very comfortable with. 4 - I don\u2019t use the trailer harness module at all since I bought the car used from the original owner, so removing the entire harness would be a reasonable solution and allay the fire risk.
