This caused the vehicle to suddenly lose braking capability. Right after I attempted to brake the vehicle on the highway, the ABS light, brake assistance light, braking distance automatic light, and traction control lights all illuminated on the dashboard, and the vehicle required immediate assistance. The brake pedal did not respond normally to pressure. I had to downshift rapidly to slow down and exit the freeway safely. Once in a safer area, I was finally able to stop the vehicle by applying a lot of pressure to the pedal. This dangerous failure put myself and other drivers at serious risk of an accident. Due to the severity of the issue, I immediately called a tow truck and had the vehicle taken to the authorized Jeep dealership in Tustin for repairs. I had previously experienced another major repair (rear axle joint binding) that took approximately 64 days when the vehicle had around 30,000 miles. The current incident occurred at approximately 52,000 miles. I reported this safety issue to Jeep Customer Service and received Reference Number [XXX]. This is a serious safety defect involving the brake system that could have caused a crash on the highway.
