The plastic cap over the mirror spontaneously cracked. It sounded like my CRV was hit by a rock. I looked over and my mirror was folded into the vehicle. The mirror works, it is not cracked and the movement via the driver side buttons works. Upon stopping and looking, the plastic was broken from the bottom around the interior of the cap. Exterior plastic piece was left.  I used black duct tape to keep the remaining pieces together.  No warning signs. Pieces of plastic flew off the mirror into the roadway where cars were parked and people would be standing.
