Without proper positioning, I could not safely reach the pedals or maintain appropriate control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of losing control or being unable to react quickly in traffic.  The dealership confirmed the seat frame malfunction and performed repairs to address the issue.  No warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms were present before the failure.
