This is known by gm in service bulletin Service Bulletin 17-NA-304.  This is a fuel leak, that can causes significant fire danger to people, property, and nature.  Eventually putting first responders at risk.  Also the environmental risk of continuous leaking fuel. Luckily, I could smell it before anything bad happened.
