Immediately before the collision, I experienced a sudden change in braking. The brake pedal became very hard, and the vehicle did not slow as expected even with increased pressure on the pedal. This condition lasted for a few seconds and significantly reduced my ability to stop. The auto braking feature also did not activate.  There were no clear warning indicators at the time, and the event happened very quickly. Based on how the vehicle responded, it felt like a loss of brake assist.   My vehicle collided with a semi truck, totalling the front end. I was very lucky to walk away alive. Thankfully airbags and my seat belt saved me.   I am reporting this as part of the incident record in case it is relevant to the cause of the accident.
