Specifically, while operating the vehicle at various speeds, the transmission fails to engage properly, causing a violent vibration/shudder. This is frequently followed by the vehicle surging or accelerating unexpectedly without increased pressure on the gas pedal.  This condition creates a significant safety hazard as it compromises the driver's ability to maintain a constant speed and control the vehicle in traffic or during low-speed maneuvers. The random acceleration is unpredictable and poses an immediate risk of rear-end collisions or loss of vehicle control.  General Motors (GM) has issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) regarding this specific 8-speed transmission defect (shudder/vibration), yet they have failed to issue a safety recall. My vehicle began exhibiting these life-safety symptoms approximately two weeks after the 100,000-mile powertrain warranty expired in August 2025.  A licensed transmission specialist has diagnosed the issue as a torque converter failure and transmission fluid contamination, consistent with the known defects identified in GM's own TSBs. Chevrolet has refused to remedy this safety defect at their expense, citing warranty expiration, despite their documented prior knowledge of the systemic nature of this failure.
