There are other references to this happening online from other owners and it's a manufacturer defect.  I brought to the dealer and was told that they should be replaced for $3000 each as they are allowing water to intrude and will cause a shorting out of the brake lights.  No brake lights would be a major hazard.  The cracks in both lights were not due to impacts.
