This failure is random, and properly written fault-tolerant software should NOT allow this condition to happen; it would be better to shut the system off than to cause blisters on people's feet or blowing 140+ deg air when it is only 110° outside. Also, the HVAC system, when malfunctioning, cannot be turned off... it continues to blow hot air.
