There was a thunk sound.  But it still shifted.   We then drove the car about 10 miles.   Then later in the day attempted to drive home.  It\u2019s was over-roving while driving.  Acting erratic.   We pulled into a tire place to see if something was stuck underneath.  The check engine light was on and there was an error message saying broken parking brake?   They said to have it towed to a Transmission Specilist.   To our horror.   They are saying it needs a new transmission!   A 4 yr old car?   This is not normal.   It worked fine until now.  It would not move out of second or third gear.
