Shortly after purchase, the Check Engine warning light illuminated, leading the contact to replace the catalytic converter. Upon using a diagnostic code reader, the contact discovered that the estimated value of the vehicle was significantly less than the actual cost that was paid for the vehicle. The contact purchased the Carfax report which revealed that the actual mileage on the vehicle was 297,000; not the 107,000 shown on the instrument panel. The contact subsequently discovered that a fake Carfax report was provided at the time of the purchase, which showed that the vehicle was also involved in several crashes and had several prior owners. The contact reported the incident to the DeKalb County Police Department.
