Upon closing the door, the rear window spontaneously shattered completely. The conditions at the time were as follows:  \u2022 Outdoor temperature: approximately 85\u00b0F \u2014 well within normal operating range \u2022 No prior chips, cracks, or visible damage to the glass before the incident \u2022 No external impact, projectile, vandalism, or theft attempt of any kind \u2022 No vehicles or people were in the immediate area at the time of failure \u2022 The only action taken was a normal, gentle closing of the car door  This was not a minor crack. The window shattered completely and without warning. Flying glass debris posed a serious safety hazard to myself and anyone nearby. We were fortunate no injuries occurred.
