The engine block ruptured, leaving a large visible hole with internal engine components exposed. Oil was expelled into the engine bay and ignited/burned briefly. This occurred without prior warning at highway speed and created a sudden loss-of-propulsion hazard.  The vehicle has approximately 48,500 miles and has had regular on-time maintenance via Honda dealership. No warnings or other symptoms were active prior to engine rupture event.  Fire dept & NYS police arrived on scene prior to being towed.
