The original complaint involved the front passenger seat lumbar support unexpectedly inflating to maximum firmness without any occupant input. The lumbar support became extremely hard and uncomfortable as though it had inflated to its highest setting on its own creating a large rock hard bulge in the passenger’s back. Since filing the original complaint, the same defect has now occurred in the driver’s seat. The driver’s lumbar support suddenly became rock hard without any adjustment being made to the seat controls. The change was sudden rather than gradual happening overnight. This defect has now occurred in both front seats of the vehicle, suggesting a possible system-wide issue rather than an isolated seat component failure. The unexpected inflation creates a driver distraction and can affect comfort and vehicle operation while driving. This complaint is intended to supplement and update NHTSA complaint #11725438. I request that this additional occurrence be added to the existing record. Many other Wagoneer owners have experienced this same issue as I see repeated complaints of this happening on the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer owner’s facebook pages. There is no way to remedy this situation on my own. The vehicle is not just uncomfortable, it is unsafe in this condition.
