Without warning, the steering wheel becomes extremely stiff and difficult to turn, and a \u201cService Power Steering\u201d message appears.  The failure occurs at any speed and lasts about 1\u20133 minutes before returning to normal. This has happened multiple times under similar conditions.  This creates a serious safety risk because it occurs at highway or city speeds without warning, making the vehicle difficult to control and increasing the risk of a crash.  No prior warning is given before the failure other than the dashboard message at the time of the incident. Cause is UNKNOWN.
