We limped into a repair shop.  The upper catalyst crumbled and was sucked into the lower catalyst causing total failure.  The vehicle was completely incapacitated on the roadway.  This is all available for inspection.  The vehicle has less than 7,000 miles on it when it failed. It left a group stranded and had to be pushed off the road.  The problem was confirmed at a dealership with a quoted price of $26,000 to replace the entire long block.
