This even occurred while accelerating onto a highway.  I took this to the shop and after 6 months of back and forth and paying for fuel injectors they 'repaired' it. Now, my car felt heavy with the auto turn off but the vehicle stayed on. The next day, while trying to accelerate up a hill on a highway, the RPM would rev but the car would not shift and accelerate.
