I applied the brakes but there was no response.  I pushed even harder with excessive force and the brakes did not respond at all.  I though for sure I was going to hit the vehicle in front of me when the brakes finally responded.  I was traveling at about 20 miles an hour when this incident began.    I know there is a recall related to the ABS brakes where a software update is intended.  That recall does not indicate a safety hazard.  This recall seems related since it appeared to me to be an ABS braking problem.  I can tell you that it is certainly a high safety risk.  My local dealer can not get me in to address the recalls for another 6 weeks and I'm concerned this may happen again.  This needs to be considered a significant safety risk before serious injuries occur.   I currently have 20,000 miles on this vehicle.  The driving conditions at the time of the incident were dry roads surface, sunny and about 72 degrees F.
