The first independent mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The first dealer diagnosed the vehicle with an inoperable spark plug and ignition coil in cylinder #1. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The second independent mechanic replaced all the spark plugs and ignition coils; however, the failure persisted. The second dealer diagnosed the vehicle with head gasket failure and determined that the timing belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a third Honda dealer but it was not yet diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened; however, the contact stated that no response had been received.
