When I release the brake to proceed, the engine does not restart as it should. Instead, the instrument cluster displays messages such as “Shift to Park to Restart” and/or “Press Brake to Start.” At that point, the vehicle is immobilized in traffic and I must shift into Park and manually restart the vehicle using the Start/Stop button before I can continue driving. The problem occurs intermittently, making it difficult for the dealer to reproduce. It appears to happen more frequently when the air conditioning is running, although it has also occurred under other conditions. This creates a significant safety hazard because the vehicle can become stranded in the middle of an intersection or at a traffic light, exposing occupants to the risk of being struck by other vehicles. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealer, but because the condition could not be reproduced during the visit, no repairs were made. The issue continues to occur. I am reporting this because the failure of the Auto Idle Stop system to restart the engine presents a serious safety concern and appears consistent with reports from other Honda owners.
