The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle at the residence, a fuel injector leak was noticed along with fuel leaking onto the exhaust. Additionally, the contact noticed thick white smoke emerging from the engine bay on one occasion, suspected a fire hazard, and used a fire extinguisher to dissipate the smoke. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle entered LIMP Mode and stalled. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road and verified that a fuel injector had blown. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, who had advised the contact that the vehicle was safe to drive. The contact also stated that a fuel line failed while driving, requiring the vehicle to be towed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, where technicians retrieved diagnostic trouble codes indicating low fuel pressure; however, the contact was informed that no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to several other dealers, who referred the contact to the initial dealer who completed the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided.
