The unexpected deployment caused me to lose control of the vehicle, and a three-car collision followed. I sustained a head injury and aggravation of a pre-existing traumatic brain injury; I remain under medical care. There was no crash before the deployment - the deployment caused the crash. No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms appeared before the failure. The vehicle was reported to the manufacturer, which opened a claim and later closed it without repair or explanation; a second manufacturer case review is open. I have demanded preservation of all vehicle data, including event data recorder and telematics records, and independent inspection was arranged. The vehicle and the airbag control unit remain available for inspection on request.
