Later, when the software update did not work, they suggested we replace the battery even though we tested it months ago and it was fine.  After the battery replacement when the IP cluster was still inoperable, BMW recommended i pay another $3k for the IP replacement.   I am seeing Hyundai have a similar issue but they have shared a proper recall and repair notice to consumers at NO COST. Many BMW X7 owners have faced a similar issue to mine.
