On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at approximately 9 AM, I was helping my daughter unload her cosmetology case at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.  The rear liftgate was open. We were both standing behind the vehicle, facing away from it toward her cosmetology case (which had become unlatched so we were fixing it).  No one pressed a button on the liftgate, the key fob, or inside the vehicle to initiate closure. Neither of us intentionally activated the hands-free liftgate sensor.  The liftgate began closing and struck the back of my head. It did not reverse upon contacting me and continued pushing downward. My daughter intervened to raise the liftgate by hitting the button.  (Audio of incident is preserved on dash cam)    An ER visit revealed healed injury with occipital hematoma.   I experienced a concussion and neck injury from the lift gate.   Followed up with neurology -  I was Dx with post concussion syndrome and post concussive headaches. And whiplash. I continue to have headaches, light sensitivity, brain fog and very bad neck pain.
