When I pressed the brake pedal to start the vehicle, I heard an unusual sound that I had not normally heard when starting the car. It was heard from the outside of my car and as well as I felt it on brakes as I pressed it.  My neighbor was present and advised me to turn the vehicle off and restart it. After I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, the sound was no longer present.  Three days later, while driving the vehicle, I attempted to apply the brakes to slow/stop, but the vehicle did not respond as expected. I pressed the brake pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle but was unable to stop, resulting in a collision.  Because of the unusual sound that occurred while pressing the brake pedal three days earlier and the subsequent loss of braking ability during the accident, I am concerned that there may have been a malfunction involving the vehicle's braking system or a related component.  The accident was reported to law enforcement, and the vehicle sustained significant damage. My insurance company subsequently determined that the vehicle was a total loss.  I am submitting this complaint so that the incident and the earlier warning sign can be documented and reviewed by NHTSA as a potential vehicle safety issue.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2026","productMake":"NISSAN","productModel":"ROGUE","manufacturer":"Nissan North America, Inc."}]}]}
