This was unintended vehicle movement after Park engagement. The vehicle uses a push‑button, shift‑by‑wire Park system, so any electronic malfunction can affect its ability to remain stationary. Recent recall work: Two days before the incident (Sept 10, 2026), Toyota performed recall work on the vehicle. Because the Prius Prime relies heavily on electronic control modules, this timing may be relevant to the malfunction. Same day: The vehicle displayed “No Key Detected” even though the key fob was inside. This may indicate intermittent electronic or communication faults involving the BCM, key‑recognition antennas, or shift‑by‑wire system. Prior to incident: The vehicle abruptly switched from EV to gasoline operation despite having substantial battery charge and under light driving conditions. This behavior is inconsistent with normal Prius Prime operation and may indicate instability in the hybrid control or battery‑management systems. Past electronic malfunction: On March 1, 2024, after service at Toyota of Melbourne, the automatic headlights and driver‑assistance features were not functioning. The service invoice (RO #TOCS730453) documents these issues, showing prior electronic system irregularities. Toyota response: Toyota acknowledged my claim on Sept 15, 2026 and opened Case #260915003140, forwarding it to their field office for review and possible inspection. Request: I am reporting this as a potential safety defect involving unintended movement after Park engagement, recent recall work, and intermittent electronic malfunctions affecting multiple systems.
