The A/C system lost refrigerant and stopped cooling. A Toyota dealer inspected the vehicle, confirmed the punctured condenser, and replaced it. Availability of the removed component for inspection is UNKNOWN.  The safety issue became apparent while driving in rain, when the windshield began fogging and the failed A/C system could not effectively dehumidify the air and clear the windshield, reducing forward visibility.  There were no warning lamps or messages before the failure. The first symptoms were loss of A/C cooling and difficulty keeping the windshield clear in wet conditions.  Toyota Motor North America was notified and opened case #260914001661 regarding this incident and my concern about the front-grille/cooling-component vulnerability.  The grille openings are approximately 1-3/8 inches, and the condenser is about 9 inches behind the grille with no fine debris screen protecting the exposed cooling components. I am concerned that this design permits ordinary road debris to reach and damage vulnerable heat exchangers.  The Crown Signia Hybrid uses a similar front-end cooling-stack arrangement to the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, with the A/C condenser, engine-cooling radiator, and hybrid/inverter cooling components in the airflow path behind the grille. My incident demonstrates that debris can penetrate the Crown grille and reach at least one heat exchanger. If debris instead strikes a coolant-carrying radiator or hybrid/inverter cooling component, the result could be more serious.  NHTSA is currently reviewing a similar road-debris/cooling-component concern involving Toyota Grand Highlander vehicles under Defect Petition DP26006. I am submitting this incident so NHTSA can determine whether the Crown may share a similar vulnerability.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2025","productMake":"TOYOTA","productModel":"CROWN SIGNIA","manufacturer":"Toyota Motor Corporation"}]}]}
