I began receiving repeated \u201clow coolant\u201d warnings on the vehicle's dashboard. The coolant was topped off, but the warning continued to return, indicating that this was not simply a low-fluid or routine maintenance issue.  The vehicle was subsequently inspected by BMW, and a coolant leak was identified in the engine compartment. I was informed that certain components associated with the cooling system were made with plastic and were exposed to significant heat, which contributed to the components failing and causing coolant to leak.  BMW ultimately had to replace the affected components with newer/upgraded replacement parts. The fact that the replacement components were newer than the components originally installed in my vehicle raises concerns that the original parts/materials may not have been adequately designed to withstand the operating temperatures and conditions of the vehicle.  I am concerned that this could represent a premature component failure or potential design/material defect affecting the cooling system of 2023 BMW X3 vehicles. A coolant leak can potentially lead to overheating, engine damage, loss of vehicle performance, or a vehicle becoming disabled while being operated.  I also believe it is important for BMW and NHTSA to investigate whether other vehicles equipped with the same components are experiencing similar premature coolant leaks or failures.  I am requesting that this complaint be documented and considered as part of any investigation into cooling-system or coolant-leak issues affecting BMW X3 vehicles.  I have documentation of the repair, including the diagnosis and the parts that were replaced, and can provide those records if needed.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2023","productMake":"BMW","productModel":"X3","manufacturer":"BMW of North America, LLC"}]}]}
