Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced repeated malfunctions of the digital instrument cluster (gauge cluster) located directly behind the steering wheel. The instrument cluster screen unexpectedly goes black, shuts off, restarts, and cycles power without warning, including while the vehicle is being driven. Additionally, when the instrument cluster malfunctions and cycles power, amber-colored warning lights located on both exterior mirrors, including the mirror surfaces and housings, flash simultaneously. I believe these are associated with the vehicle's blind-spot monitoring system. Both sides illuminate in conjunction with the instrument cluster malfunction, suggesting that the issue may involve more than the instrument cluster display alone. The vehicle has been taken to authorized RAM dealerships approximately six times in an effort to correct this recurring defect. Most repair attempts were performed at Midway Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in [XXX], with an additional visit to Anderson Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in [XXX]. Despite these repeated repair attempts, the defect remains unresolved. Most recently, on XXX at approximately 10:04 PM, the instrument cluster again went black and cycled power while I was driving. This malfunction presents a serious safety concern because the instrument cluster provides essential driving information, including vehicle speed, warning indicators, and other vehicle operating information. When the display goes black, this information may become temporarily unavailable. The simultaneous flashing of the exterior mirror warning lights also raises concerns about possible interference with the vehicle's driver-assistance systems. The manufacturer has been formally notified of this recurring defect. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate these repeated electrical malfunctions as a potential vehicle safety defect.
