On[XXX] in Austin, TX, the power steering began acting up at approximately 45 mph, then fully gave out at about 10 mph while parking, and I could no longer steer the vehicle. No crash or injury occurred, but losing steering at road speed put me and others at serious risk of a crash. Prior symptom: about 45 days earlier (early September 2026), the steering wheel jerked randomly while driving. Warning lamps: UNKNOWN. The vehicle was taken to Covert Dodge Ram (Ram dealer, Research Blvd, Austin, TX), which confirmed the failure and identified the electric power steering wiring jumper harness between the EPS gear and the EPS module as the cause. This matches open recall 26V-621 (FCA 92D), which shows on this VIN as 'remedy not yet available.' Because no remedy is available, the dealer is asking me to pay for the repair and seek reimbursement from FCA. The vehicle is not safe to drive until repaired. Failed parts can be made available for inspection on request. Mileage approximately 103,000.
