The problem initially presented as a strong raw gasoline odor around the vehicle, particularly after driving. The gasoline smell was noticeable near the rear of the vehicle, eventually became apparent around the entire exterior, and entered the passenger compartment through the air-conditioning vents. Initially, the odor was more noticeable when the fuel tank was full, but it later occurred even when the tank was approximately half full. An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and identified a cracked flange on top of the fuel tank. The mechanic confirmed that gasoline was leaking from the cracked flange and showed me visible gasoline leakage underneath the vehicle. There was no check engine light or other warning indicating a fuel system malfunction. This condition presents a serious fire hazard because gasoline is escaping from the fuel system, and gasoline vapors can enter the passenger compartment. I am concerned about the safety of the driver, passengers, and others near the vehicle. The failure appears similar to the cracked fuel tank outlet flange condition described in Jaguar safety recall J027 (NHTSA recall 12V-521). On October 20, 2026, an authorized Jaguar dealership informed me in writing that the vehicle's VIN was not associated with any open safety campaigns. The dealership offered a paid diagnostic inspection but declined goodwill repair assistance. The dealership did not physically inspect the vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this potentially related fuel system failure and determine whether the recall population should be reviewed. The vehicle has not been repaired and is currently being kept off the road because of the fire risk. I have obtained Jaguar Technical Bulletin J027NAS2, dated May 7, 2013, concerning Safety Recall J027 for a cracked fuel tank fuel outlet mounting flange.
